The vision for the Wake Up Westside Emergency Fair is to create an interactive, educational, impactful event to WAKE UP and equip our families to be better prepared which will help our community to be more resilient in times of disaster. We provide the community with (1) emergency preparedness information, demonstration, and vendor booths (2) food sustainability information for starter gardens (3) supplies and information for the hunting, farming, fishing community.
This year, our fair is on September 21st at Nanakuli High School Multipurpose Room from 12pm-3pm. This is a free event open to all members of the community. There will be ongoing booths, vendors, displays, and demonstrations from the following organizations: Army National Guard, Hawaii Fire Department, Red Cross, Nanakuli JROTC, Pig Hunters Association, Board of Water Supply, National Disasters Preparedness Training Center, Department of Health - Disability and Communication Access, Hawaii Humane Society, Be Ready Hawaii, J.Hara (hunting and fishing gear), DoTerra, Holoholo Hawaiians, Natural Born Tactics, Collective Empire (Mauna Gear), No Koa Brand (Mauna Gear), Beach Side Shave Ice, Tea Girls, and Tin Hut BBQ.
There will also be FREE CPR certification with sign ups beginning at 12pm. The workshop can only accommodate the first nine people and it will begin at 12:30 and run until 3pm. Thanks to Wai'anae Store, all community members who visit every booth will win a few vacuum sealed bag of rice to help start or add to their emergency food storage.
